Charles F. Morgan - fmorgan@agtlawyers.com

When Frank Morgan joined the firm in April 2007, he was an experienced and skilled trial and appellate lawyer.  But just because Frank litigated cases in State and federal courts from Maryland to Mississippi (and the United States Supreme Court) Frank thought he could control the tone and content of this biography, Feh!  He’d like to tell you that his experience covers civil litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution in matters involving trademarks, copyrights, contracts, employment, business torts, domain name disputes and the Internet, as well as, entertainment and sports law and that he represents entertainers and professional athletes.  We’d like to point out he’s old school - - wears a tie everyday, but not so old school to keep his collar buttoned.

A steady diet of litigation can be wearing on a man or woman, and for the past decade Frank has concentrated on transactional legal work concerning intellectual property and entertainment law, including licensing, technology transfer, software and technology development, consulting and employment, website development and hosting, confidentially and non-disclosure, website privacy and terms of use, trademarks, copyrights and rules for sweepstakes and contests. And he helps his clients by working with them so they can make the right choices in trademark selection, strategy, use and protection, prosecution, and copyright registration, and when necessary litigating matters in the federal Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Franks’ entertainment and sport clients include established and aspiring artists, authors and entertainers, many individuals and businesses involved in the entertainment industry from all over the United States.  Among his many clients Frank lists major label recording artists, children’s and classical music artists, publishers and producers, writers and composers, filmmakers, a New York Times best-sellingauthor and presidential biographer and world class professional athletes, some of whom are international super stars.

He is particularly pleased with a 2007 deal he negotiated for his client’s music to play over the opening titles of a film that won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and was nominated for Best Picture.  The soundtrack album, which included his client’s song, won a Grammy.  In 2009, another client was nominated for a Grammy for Best Musical Album for Children.

He’s a perennial Best Lawyers and Super Lawyer for entertainment, music, movies, and television; sports law, copyright and trademark.  And most recently he was named by Best Lawyers as Lawyer of the Year for Entertainment Law – Music, although he thinks his friends are just playing with him.

Holy Cow! And to think we’ve known Frank for decades.
